Wordplay: It’s PUN-damental (aka Loot & PUN-der)

Recently The Mouth and I were on a road trip and with many miles of open western highway stretching out in front of us. We needed to pass the time and we needed to take a break from listening to Dune. So we began, as we often to, to talk about improv; what kind of players we were and how we could get better. What skills we avoid and feel weakest at. Real nerdy stuff like that. Go ahead, judge us we aren’t going to stop. Anyway, this led us to talking about puns.

We both agreed that when the moment for one arises in a USS show we tend to get real quiet and let Phillip or Dave handle it. But we shouldn’t. Of course we shouldn’t. Why can’t we do a pun too? I mean, we both really, really pun-t to. (ZING! Okay, okay, I’m getting ahead of myself.) So we decided we would start making up puns about every billboard and road sign we passed. Then a problem occurred, we became unsure that we even really knew what a pun was. I mean, what is the different between a pun and wordplay? What does rhyming have to do with puns? Anything?? Is that thing you just said really a pun?? On and on. Fortunately in this modern age, we had a solution, we would just ask our teammates for help. I sent the following text message to the members of USS Rock N Roll:

“I need your help. Please send me your best pun right away. Love, TheDandy”
